How to Unlock a LostPassword in Windows XP

Log out and log in as the Windows XP administrator. If youforget the administrator username and password, you can use another username as long as it has administrative rights on the computer.

Click the Windows ?Start? button and select ?Run.? Type ?compmgmt.msc? into the text box and press the ?Enter? key. This opens the computer management window.

Click the icon labeled ?Local Usersand Groups? located on the left side of the window. This expands a list of options.

Click the ?Users? icon located under the ?Local Users and Groups? section. In the details screen, a list of configured users is shown.

Double-click the user whose password has been lost. Click the ?Set Password? button and click ?Proceed.?

Enter a new username and password for the user. Click the ?OK? button. The change is immediate, so the user can now login to the computer using the new password.
